  about LOMA

During the operation of a landfill several events like, bad weather conditions, equipment malfunction, wrong operation practice etc., could lead to specific operation faults.

Such faults are the

  • surface fires,
  • litter,
  • leachate and gas management problems,
  • traffic problems etc.

Landfill managers rely on their experience to estimate if any operational fault is possible to occur and how it can be prevented or restricted.

The Landfill Operation Management Advisor (LOMA) is an Expert System which is accessible via the internet and addressed to the landfill manager who would like to know if Operational Faults are possible to occur based on the current working conditions in the landfill. Moreover, LOMA provides solutions and/or advises in order to prevent the fault occurrence or restrict its effects.
